Student Welfare and Support Services works collaboratively on student health
and welfare issues with colleagues in colleges, academic and administrative
departments, the Oxford University Student Union and key statutory services
and other partners outside of the University.
Services include the Counselling Service, Disability Advisory Service, the
Sexual Harassment and Violence Support Service, Peer Support Programme, and
Mental Health Awareness Training, all aimed at supporting the well-being of
our students so they can flourish academically.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Communications Officer to join us on
a permanent basis.

**About the Role**
The primary purpose of this role is to manage the day-to-day operational
communications tasks within the department, develop a departmental
communications plan, and ensure the smooth execution of various activities
outlined in the plan. This will involve assessing and addressing stakeholder
communications needs, creating high quality content in a diverse range of
formats appropriate to different audiences, and utilising proactive problem-
solving skills to resolve any issues that arise in this process.
In addition, the post holder will confidently participate in collaborative
decision-making and make creative suggestions to improve existing content and
communications practices. They will conduct thorough evaluations and analyses
of departmental communications activities, producing clear and concise reports
that set out communications plans which support the departmental strategic
objectives. As a skilled copywriter, the postholder will ensure departmental
communications and content are of a high quality, accurate, relevant, and that
they adhere to University and/or department brand and accessibility
guidelines.
**About You**
Candidates must be able to demonstrate
• A good general level of education (A Level or equivalent professional
experience)
• Demonstrable experience of contributing to print and digital communications
activities, social media content and supporting media relations activity
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate confidently
and clearly to internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to organise events and make administrative arrangements
• Good IT skills and competency across Microsoft packages and experience
across a range of standard communications software e.g. content management
systems, digital content creation/graphic design software, video/image/audio
editing software, social media, media monitoring and database software
• Demonstrable awareness and understanding of the role of AI and digital
developments in communications today
