Departmental Lecturer in Applied Theology

The Faculty of Theology and Religion is seeking to appoint a Departmental
Lecturer in Applied Theology. This post is generously funded by the McDonald
Agape Foundation, and is intended to develop the career of a highly promising
scholar by providing opportunities for academic research, teaching and
collaboration in Applied Theology and associated fields (such as pastoral
theology, practical theology, or contextual theology). The Lecturer will be
expected to play an active role in the teaching of undergraduate and graduate
courses as well as in academic administration as part of the Faculty of
Theology and Religion and Wycliffe Hall.
The Departmental Lecturer in Applied Theology will be responsible for
coordinating and helping to lead a redesign of, and delivering, the MTh. As
well as offering tutorials and supervising essays and dissertations for
students on the MTh (and potentially, doctoral students) as well as for
Wycliffe Hall students, the Lecturer will offer undergraduate teaching for any
undergraduate papers that fall within his/her academic speciality.
This role also offers the opportunity for hybrid working
**About you**
You will have the relevant postgraduate qualification (preferably a doctorate)
in an area of applied/ practical theology, familiarity with the existing
literature and research in the field, experience of qualitative and/or
quantitative research methodologies and analytical techniques as well as
approaches to interdisciplinary work in theology. In addition, you will have
the ability and commitment to participate effectively and collegially in the
wider academic activities of both the College and Faculty, and in the creation
of a healthy community and culture of research and teaching across the
different parts of the University of Oxford.
