Applications for this vacancy closed on 10 February 2025 at 12:00PM
We are seeking to appoint a highly-motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist
to join Professor Bowden’s group to work in the area of integrated X-ray and
EM-based studies of viral glycoprotein-antibody interactions. You will join a
very lively and motivated international and interdisciplinary group of
scientists at the Division of Structural Biology, Nuffield Department of
Medicine.

You will be responsible for managing your own academic research activities,
adapting existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental
protocols, as well as testing hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a
variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate.
You will also contribute ideas for new research projects and to the

It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in a
relevant subject (e.g. Structural Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Virology)
and have research experience in production and purification of protein samples
for structure/function studies using mammalian and insect cell-based
expression systems. You will have research experience in X-ray crystallography
and/or cryoEM/cryoET, preferably of glycoproteins and membrane proteins and in
biophysical and cell-based assays. You will also have documented evidence of
work at the level expected of first author publication in a leading refereed
