Are you a skilled communicator and event-manager passionate about improving
the research environment and culture? Join the Researcher Hub team at the
University of Oxford and play a vital role in enhancing the everyday
experience and career prospects of researchers, specifically supporting the
University's commitments to the **Concordat for the Career Development of
Researchers**.
This role is available as a secondment or a short-term position until July
31st 2025, with the possibility of continuity thereafter.
**Key Responsibilities**
In this role, you will develop and implement effective strategies that improve
researcher engagement and awareness of the University's initiatives, including
the launch of the **Career Development of Researchers Action Plan 2025-2030**.
You will create and manage a variety of communications materials, such as
newsletters, blog posts, reports, and online content for websites and
intranets, ensuring all outputs are clear, engaging, and accessible to diverse
audiences.
Collaborating closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will
plan and deliver events, such as researcher inductions and training modules,
while overseeing the production of promotional materials for campaigns and
activities. Monitoring and evaluating the success of communications
initiatives will be a key focus, enabling you to adapt strategies and drive
improvement.
Additionally, you will provide tailored communications training and advice to
team members and subject matter experts, ensuring alignment with the
University's branding guidelines. You will also play an active role in
University networks to share best practices and foster cross-departmental
collaboration.
**Criteria for Success**
To succeed in this role, you will have a degree or equivalent professional
experience, alongside proven expertise in communications, media, and
engagement within complex organisations. You will demonstrate exceptional
writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas to
non-specialist audiences. Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills,
including diplomacy and the ability to inspire confidence at all levels, are
essential.
You must have experience creating effective web content, managing multiple
stakeholder relationships, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
Analytical and research skills will also be critical, as will proficiency in
using online applications and content management systems.
A professional qualification in communications, public relations, or
marketing, alongside experience working in higher education or an interest in
the research environment, will be highly desirable.
