Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Superconducting Quantum Circuits
Applications for this vacancy closed on 13 March 2025 at 12:00PM
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in
Superconducting Quantum Circuits.
The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration until 30 April 2026
This project aims to develop superconducting microwave interconnects and
metasurfaces for distributed quantum networks, focusing on high-fidelity none-
nearest neighbour entangling gates while addressing hardware overhead and
thermal load in superconducting quantum circuits.
The successful candidate will develop new characterization and benchmarking
techniques for quantum algorithms on devices at or beyond the 16-transmon
scale. They will also contribute to designing large-scale control and readout
multiplexing based on cQED space-time modulation metasurfaces.
Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing experimental data,
publishing results, and presenting findings at conferences.
This role may involve superconducting microwave circuit design and simulation,
theoretical analysis of classical and quantum circuits, numerical method
development, cleanroom device fabrication, cryogenic system operation, and
microwave control electronics and software. The post-holder will also have the
opportunity to teach.
The post-holder will have the opportunity to teach.
Applicants should hold a PhD, or be close to completion in physics or
electrical engineering or a related field and have a strong background in
experimental quantum information, clean room device fabrication and microwave
techniques or quantum device physics.
Previous experience in the field of superconducting quantum circuits, circuit
theory and synthesis, and microwave techniques will be an advantage.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication
skills.
You will be required to upload a CV, covering letter and details of two
referees as part of your online application
Please direct enquiries about the role to Mustafa Bakr
(mustafa.bakr@physics.ox.ac.uk)
Only applications received before midday (UK time) on 13 March 2025 can be
considered. You will be required to upload a statement of research interests,
CV and details of two referees as part of your online application.
