**About the Role**
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Laboratory Technician to
contribute to high-quality and innovative research in the field of
experimental medicine, focusing on two key projects led by Professor Ellie
Barnes. The first is DeLIVER, a national multi-site programme, funded by
Cancer Research UK. The DeLIVER consortium brings together a team of
clinicians, scientists and industry partners and aims to provide a better
understanding of the changes within the liver that lead to Hepatocellular
Carcinoma (HCC, liver cancer) and to identify novel methods to detect liver
cancer at the earliest stages when curative therapies may be applied. The
second is the Barnes Group Vaccine Programme, involving the development,
optimisation and evaluation of novel vaccines for use in patients with chronic
disease.
The role involves large-scale sample processing, sample shipping, and supplies
management to support the activities for DeLIVER. The role will also require
supporting the execution of molecular biology experiments for the generation
of new vaccines, and to support during the execution of advanced immunological
techniques for the assessment of vaccine responses in mice and/or humans.
**About You**
You will demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills with the
ability to interact with a wide range of internal/external contacts regularly.
You will be willing to work with human or mouse tissue and blood samples.
Previous clinical experience, experience of working in a laboratory team
(particularly sample processing and quality control environment) is desirable.
You will require flexibility to support the research on going on both sites
(John Radcliffe Hospital and Peter Medawar Building). Appropriate arrangements
will be made to split the time accordingly between sites based on the studies’
requirements.
