<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><div>We have an exciting opportunity for a post-doctoral researcher interested in early-stage drug discovery to join a team of highly motivated scientists working within the Centre for Medicines Discovery, Nuffield Department of Medicine. The team supports discovery and development of lead compounds by producing and characterizing proteins, developing high-quality assays, screening for small molecules, peptides, or nanobodies, analysing data, and helping to further develop the hits. The team collaborates with groups of medicinal chemists, biochemists, and biologists, and aims to publish original research in high-quality journals.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>You will be responsible for managing your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small-scale project management to coordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will be involved in the development of a wide variety of early-stage drug discovery projects both within the CMD and across the wider university. This will involve the expression and purification of proteins, subsequent characterisation of these proteins, development of assays, and inhibitor discovery. &#160;You will be responsible for troubleshooting your experiments and assisting other CMD scientists with their experiments, as well as providing training as needed. Additionally, you will be assisting with keeping the lab in good order including ordering supplies and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>To be successful in this role, you will hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related discipline, along with experience in large scale protein expression and purification in bacterial and baculoviral or mammalian systems. You will also have experience developing and running assays for screening small molecules. You will also have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write text that can be published, present data at conferences, and represent the research group at meetings.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application.
