**About the Role**
The Research Finance & Administrative Officer will be a key member of the
Finance and Research support team, serving as the primary contact for day-to-
day financial and administrative tasks such as purchasing and payments. They
will maintain accurate records in line with University and research funder
regulations, ensuring compliance and advising on procedural changes.
Key responsibilities include managing post-award administration, such as
setting up new research awards, preparing budget change forms, and overseeing
invoicing and reconciliation. The officer will also support the setup and
processing of consultancy agreements and contract amendments, while advising
research staff on financial procedures.
In addition, the officer will assist with the purchase-to-pay process, expense
claims, and financial reconciliation. They will ensure records are well-
maintained, support year-end processes, and provide budget information. The
role will also involve continuous improvement of finance and administrative
procedures and other tasks as needed.
**About You**
You will have experience in financial administration within an academic,
public sector, or research-focused environment. You possess high levels of
accuracy and attention to detail when inputting data, reviewing complex
documentation, and providing information. With a high level of numeracy, you
are confident in dealing with both financial data and written documentation.
You take a systematic, thorough, and well-organized approach to work,
demonstrating the ability to work to deadlines with minimal supervision. Your
adaptable and proactive approach allows you to succeed within a supportive and
well-structured environment.
You also have strong problem-solving skills and a demonstrable ability to
communicate professionally, confidentially, tactfully, and effectively to a
high standard, both in writing and orally. Your excellent IT skills include
experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, and
Excel. Previous experience in a finance and/or administrative role will ensure
you are well-equipped to handle the responsibilities of this role.
