Postdoctoral Immunologist

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Immunologist, to join the pre-
erythrocytic (PE) malaria group at the Jenner Institute, Nuffield Department
of Medicine. You will be part of the clinical trials team and will work on the
evaluation of candidate vaccines in clinical trials. The role will include
undertaking and developing assays for the evaluation of vaccine candidates in
human clinical trials, analysing and presenting data, contributing to
manuscripts for publication and training, and supervising junior staff.





You will participate in the research programme led by Professor Adrian Hill
and Dr. Lisa Stockdale and lead on the conduct of immunology assays for
VAC096, a phase 1 clinical trial to assess a novel escalating dose
administration regimen led by Dr. Susanne Hodgson. You will be tasked with
liaising with funders and collaborators, performing assays, interpreting
results, managing and analyse immunology datasets, and presenting this to
members of the group, and the wider Jenner Institute. You will contribute
immunology/vaccine expertise, as requested, to other Jenner Institute
programmes and collaborating Institutes. You will also be responsible for
taking oversight of junior lab members assessing immune responses to the
R21/Matrix-M vaccine in novel dosing regimens.





To be successful in this role, you will hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to
completion) in a subject relevant to immunology/vaccine development, along
with practical immunology experience assessing humoral and cellular immune
responses in infectious diseases and/or vaccines. You will have a keen
interest in vaccine development, human immunology, and malaria, as well as the
ability to implement, optimise and standardise assays and troubleshoot
protocols independently. You will also have experience in writing scientific
reports and contributing to publications. You will have excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively
with others.
