Researcher in Climate Change Attribution

<div> <p></p><div>Reporting to Dr Rupert Stuart-Smith, Senior Research Associate in Climate Science and the Law, the postholder will be a computationally proficient scientist who will work on attribution and projections of climate change impacts on human health, with particular focus on climate change hotspots in southern Africa, the Andes, and southern Europe. Working within a multidisciplinary research group at the University of Oxford, the postholder will conduct scientific research that refines existing methods, sheds light on the impacts of climate change in understudied regions, and informs adaptation and legal responses to climate change impacts.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>This research will include analyses of the effects of climate change on existing and future impacts (attribution and projections). In particular, the project will examine the contribution of individual emitters of greenhouse gases to the health impacts of climate change, the impact of different future emissions pathways (including those that temporarily overshoot the Paris Agreement&#8217;s temperature goal) on health, evaluating the applicability of different methods for conducting attribution studies, and the development of policy-relevant health indicators.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The successful candidate will primarily conduct analyses of the meteorological impacts of climate change but gain opportunities to work with interdisciplinary methods such as epidemiological and agricultural models. <div> <p></p><div>Oxford Net Zero is seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as <strong>Serviced Emissions Research &amp; Engagement Manager</strong>. This pivotal role will lead a high-impact initiative focused on advancing the understanding and integration of &#8220;serviced emissions&#8221; &#8212; the emissions influenced by professional service providers (PSPs) such as consultants, lawyers, and advertisers &#8212; into global net zero standards.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Reporting to Professor Samuel Fankhauser and under the supervision of Alexis McGivern, Head of Stakeholder Engagement, the successful candidate will be responsible for building and coordinating a new Secretariat body that supports the implementation of guidance for PSPs. <div> <p></p><div>The Global Finance and Economy Programme at Oxford&#8217;s Environmental Change Institute (ECI) is looking for a Programme Manager to support its cutting-edge work in building systemic resilience across climate, nature, water, food, health, infrastructure, and finance.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Part of the Oxford Martin Systemic Resilience Initiative, led by Professor Michael Obersteiner, the programme provides analytics and evidence to support decision-makers in embedding resilience and sustainability into policy, planning, and finance. The Programme collaborates with governments, international organisations, financial institutions, regulators, industry, universities, and civil society organisations to align policy and global systems with sustainability goals.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The post-holder will play a crucial role in supporting the Director of the programme and initiative in all aspects, overseeing project activities within the research team.
