Oxford University Department for Continuing Education (OUDCE) is seeking to
appoint a Head of Human Resources and Deputy Administrator. This is a pivotal
role within our Department, where you will have the opportunity to shape and
drive our HR strategy, support our people, and contribute to the achievement
of our ambitious goals
**About the role**
As the Head of Human Resources and Deputy Administrator, you will lead a team
of dedicated professionals to ensure that our Department delivers best-
practice HR services in line with University policy and UK law. You will be
responsible for both the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of our
HR function, providing leadership, guidance, and support across all areas of
HR management. Additionally, you will serve as a key advisor to our Director
of Finance and Administration assisting with various responsibilities
including academic administration, financial systems, and strategic
initiatives.
In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of HR
practices, policies, and systems, aligning them with departmental and
University objectives. You will oversee the activities of the HR team, manage
senior academic appointments, and ensure the effective use of IT in personnel
systems. You will also provide mediation and guidance on complex employee
relations issues, acting as a point of contact for personnel and welfare
matters. You will also be responsible for some building and facilities
matters, such as optimising space usage, health and safety and building
emergencies.
This is a full-time position, available on a permanent contract.
**About you**
You will be educated to degree level and be CIPD qualified to at least Level
5, or (for either or both) have equivalent professional experience. You will
also have previous experience as a senior HR Manager in a relevant sector. You
will be a strategic thinker, able to analyse complex issues and provide
solutions to these. As the leader of the HR team at OUDCE, you will have a
proven ability to lead, motivate and manage individuals whilst also having
excellent interpersonal, advocacy, persuasion and influencing skills.
You may also, though not necessarily, be CIPD qualified to Level 7 and have
advanced working knowledge of PeopleXD (the University’s HR information
system) and the University itself, as well as its policies and procedures.
