  1. Determination of phase transitions / melting points / thermal transitions, etc. Temperature range: -170°C to 730°C; accuracy: ±0.1°C; precision: ±0.01°C. Calorimetry accuracy: < ±1%; precision: < ±0.1%; sensitivity: 0.2 µW; dynamic range: 0.2 µW to 800 mW.

  2. Nano ITC Standard Volume (1 mL) System with 24 k Gold Cylindrical Cell
  3. General purpose. Cu alpha 1/2.
  4. Drop tensiometer. Measurement of low to high interfacial tension (from less than 0.1 mN/m to more than 100 mN/m). <1 ml sample volumes required.
  5. General purpose PXRD. Cu alpha 1/2.
  6. Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in experimental
    quantum and optical technology.

The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration of 1 year, with the
possibility of extension for an additional 1 year.

  7. To determine layer thickness (between 0.5 and 400 nm), density and roughness (between 0 and 2 nm) with about 1% accuracy, independently of each other. The minimum sample size is 20 mm by 10 mm.
  8. Bench-top microhardness tester. Equipped with Vickers and Knoop indenters. Indentation position ~10 microns (using optical microscope and sample stage). Forces applied by a column of masses of between 10 g - 1 kg. Impression measurement must be performed elsewhere.
