Research Technician

**About the role**



We have an exciting opportunity to join the Childhood Leukaemia Research
Group in the Department of Paediatrics and Molecular Haematology Unit, WIMM as
our Research Technician.





You will play an important role in the contribution of our lab in
understanding the developmental origins of high-risk childhood leukaemia.





You will be responsible for planning and conducting your own research, and
assisting other members of the group or people working on collaborative
projects, as well as working within the team through great communication and
organisational skills.





You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences
Division. The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health
research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug
development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging,
neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology. The post-holder will be well supported
by an experienced multi-disciplinary research team which includes other
postdoctoral researchers and DPhil students in the lab, computational
biologists, clinicians, as well as members of collaborating labs. The
Childhood Leukaemia Research Group under the lead of Prof Anindita Roy
conducts research in developmental haematopoiesis and childhood leukaemia and
has successfully characterised human prenatal B lymphopoiesis, and developed a
novel model of infant leukaemia using CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing.





This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract initially for one
year with the possibility to extend provided further external funding is
available.





This role may meet the criteria for a UK Skilled Worker visa.





**About you**



You will have a Bachelor’s degree or higher, supplemented by relevant post-
qualification experience in a lab-based role, with proven and demonstrable
technical skills. You will possess a demonstrable interest in molecular
biology. You will have highly effective verbal and written communication
skills with all level of staff and an ability to operate effectively in a
demanding and stimulating research environment.
