<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>There is an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician in Cell Biology/Biochemistry with some lab management responsibilities in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) based at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford. The laboratory of Prof. John Christianson is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated scientist to work on a research project investigating protein degradation mechanisms in cancer. You will join an interdisciplinary team of experimental scientists working in the fields of cell biology, drug discovery, and myeloma drug resistance as part of a Cancer Research UK funded project at the Oxford Translational Myeloma Centre.</p><br> <p>As a Laboratory Technician in our group, you will be responsible for culturing and maintaining the many different cell lines in the lab, performing biochemical assays including processing of protein samples (e.g. immunoprecipitation, SDS-PAGE, western blot), maintaining cell stocks and confirming their integrity and origin. You will have ample opportunity to take on a mentored project as well as to contribute to discussions and share research findings with our lab, other research groups, and colleagues in partner institutions. In addition, you will also have some lab management responsibilities that help to keep the lab running smoothly on a day-to-day basis. In this role, you will be helping to track and maintain inventory, overseeing its organisation, and monitoring lab equipment.</p><br> <p>You will hold an MSc or BSc (with work experience) in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or analytical chemistry. Experience of working in a Life Science laboratory, including experience in basic molecular/cell biology techniques and knowledge of health and safety regulations, are essential. Previous experience with ubiquitin-proteasome biology, ER homeostasis, membrane protein biology or cancer biology, are desirable but not essential.</p><br> <p>This is a full-time (part time - 60% to 80% FTE will be considered) fixed term appointment until December 2025.</p><br> <p>The closing date for this position is 12 noon on 20/10/2023.
