Access and Outreach Officer

We are seeking an Access and Outreach Officer to work in the School of
Geography and the Environment.
You will work closely with key stakeholders in the School, the Division, the
University, relevant colleges and external organisations to attract greater
diversity of applicants to the undergraduate programme including more students
from BAME backgrounds and areas of socio-economic disadvantage. You will co-
ordinate the School’s access and outreach activities and promote the study of
Geography at the University of Oxford to the widest possible range of
potential students through a range of access initiatives. You will lead the
Geography programmes within the University’s access initiatives, including
UNIQ and Opportunity Oxford. You may also on occasion support the School's
Development team in their alumni work.
You will have the ability to design and deliver academic Geography sessions to
school groups and teachers and the ability to write disciplinary specialist
materials for the website and outreach events. You will have a good
understanding of educational outreach programmes, and experience of organising
programmes or events or similar and an interest in and background of issues
related to Geography. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication
skills and the ability to work alongside academic, research, administrative
and support staff within the School, and to build strong relationships with
high profile partners in businesses and organisations worldwide. The ability
to work independently and as part of team when needed, and to prioritise the
various aspects of this multi-faceted role are essential.

The appointment will be permanent.
