Research Assistant: Changing Global Orders

The Department of Politics and International Relations, in association with
the Oxford Martin School-funded research programme on Changing Global Orders,
invites applications for a research assistant in international relations and
global governance, with a focus on regionalism and regional institutions.
Reporting to the Changing Global Orders Co-Directors, Professor Louise Fawcett
and Professor Andrew Hurrell, the post holder will be work independently to
provide research support and research administration support for the
programme’s work, especially in areas concerning comparative regionalism,
regional institutions, and the changing role of regions within global order.
Administrative support will include events/publications planning and
organization.





The successful applicant will gather, analyse and present qualitative and/or
quantitative data from a variety of sources, as well as undertake
comprehensive and systematic literature reviews and write up the results for
publication in peer-reviewed journals or for presentation at conferences or
public meetings. They will also be required to manage their own academic
research and administrative activities, within guidelines provided by the Co-
Directors, and select, follow, and adapt specialist methodologies to confirm
or refute theories, and identify suitable alternatives where information or
research material is restricted.





**About you**



You will hold a first degree, together with some relevant experience and be
working toward a doctorate in International Relations or a closely related
discipline. You will also possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the
discipline to work within established research programmes and have an active
research interest in regionalism, global governance/global order, and
international institutions.



Excellent communication skills (including the ability to write text that can
be published, present data at conferences) are essential. Experience of
contributing to research publications, of contributing ideas for new research
projects and reading and writing knowledge of modern language(s) would be
desirable.





This role is fixed term until 30 September 2025 (limited by external funding)
and is part-time at 0.17 FTE (on average 6 hours a week, some flexibility
required dependent on the project need).
