The project will investigate how sex informs the relationships between transcriptomic signatures and specific anatomical, physiological, and functional properties of cells in the nervous system to understand sexual behaviour.&#160;</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The successful candidate will be a motivated individual with a background in biology/neuroscience and a long-term interest in understanding the circuit basis of brain function and behaviour.&#160;</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The successful candidate will use web-based software to reconstruct neuronal morphology and analyse synaptic connectivity, analyse and interpret data using data analysis tools, construct&#160;<em>Drosophila</em>&#160;strains, identify genetic reagents and design experiments, be actively involved with all aspects of the Goodwin group, speak and present at group lab meetings and national/international conferences and take responsibility for the day-to-day academic duties, including planning for tasks and experiments.&#160;</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The successful candidate will hold a PhD or be near to completing a PhD in Neuroscience, have detailed knowledge and experience in&#160;<em>Drosophila</em>&#160;genetics, experience in functional analyses of neural circuits, microscopy experience, experience with computer programming, good communication skills and be motivated to understand the circuit basis of brain function and behaviour.&#160;</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The post is available from 1 March 2024.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The post will be based in The Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour, Tinsley Building.
