<div>The Department of Chemistry is looking for Mechanical Workshop Manager to manage the operation of the Mechanical Workshop, to provide a design, build, modification and repair service for scientific equipment and instrumentation required by the academic staff in the department.</div><br>

<div>The post holder will take a high personal level of responsibility in their specialist areas and will work in collaboration with academic colleagues and research groups to resolve practical and research problems, requiring the ability to find solutions to complicated construction problems and develop solutions to design requests.</div><br>

<div>You will supervise the workshop staff, be responsible for their training and career development as well as overseeing all work carried out in the workshop. Controlling all projects, job allocation, monitoring of performance and quality control.</div><br>

<div><strong>About you</strong></div><br>
<div> </div><br>
<div>You will hold a HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline and have significant engineering experience. You will have hands on experience in a mechanical engineering workshop, producing bespoke working prototypes or one-off fine detailed scientific equipment or instruments. Previous supervisory experience in a mechanical workshop environment is essential along with the ability to manage work load effectively, set and manage budgets and keep financial records.</div><br>
