Postdoctoral Research Associate

Applications for this vacancy closed on 20 March 2024 at 12:00PM
**About the role**

The Østergaard laboratory at the Department of Biology is looking for a
postdoctoral researcher in legume developmental genetics.

This post aims to understand hormonal regulation of pea pod growth. Through
molecular and genetic approaches, the work will reveal how a hormone variant
mediates a specific effect on inducing post fertilisation pod growth through
its directed distribution and local signalling.

Moreover, we are establishing a research programme in legume developmental
genetics and the candidate is expected to contribute to this process through
assistance with developing genetic resources such as legume mutant population
and gene editing methodologies.

**About you**

You will have a PhD degree, or be close to completion of, in plant
genetics/molecular biology (or equivalent experience). It is essential that
you have previous experience of working in the field of plant hormone dynamics
in reproductive organ development and possess specialist knowledge in pea gene
silencing and pea pod development. Where Covid-19 has resulted in substantial
disruption to your work or research outputs, please explain this by providing
an additional paragraph in your supporting statement.

The University of Oxford is committed to equality and valuing diversity. All
applicants will be judged on merit, according to the selection criteria.

This post is full time and available immediately.

**How to apply**

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Wednesday 20th March 2024.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online via our e-recruitment
system, and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as
