Senior Postdoctoral Immunologist
Applications for this vacancy closed on 17 May 2024 at 12:00PM
We have the exciting opportunity to recruit a Senior Postdoctoral Immunologist
to join our research team here at Jenner Institute, Nuffield Department of
Medicine.
The Jenner Institute is a global leader in vaccine development and provides an
outstanding academic environment. The post will provide exposure to a spectrum
of vaccine development activity, encompassing multiple target organisms and
spanning from pre-clinical discovery to Phase III clinical efficacy trials.
As Senior Immunologist, you will take a leading role in the development and
evaluation of novel experimental medicine and vaccine approaches targeting
Epstein Barr virus (EBV) and rabies. You will lead the immunology work of the
group. This will be primarily focused on clinical trial immunology, but also
includes experimental medicine and pre-clinical development of vaccine
candidates. This will also be focused on EBV and rabies, but may develop in
other areas depending on the development of research programmes within the
Douglas group.
You will be responsible for leading immunological studies, experimental
medicine, and vaccine development work targeting EBV and rabies, plus other
disease areas that develop within the team. You will be tasked with
supervising and developing other members of the team, including research
assistants, DPhil students, and Masters students. You will be contributing to
other research areas within the group, including the development and testing
of other vaccines and immunological studies. Finally, you will also be
responsible for regularly writing research articles of internationally-leading
quality for peer-reviewed journals, presenting papers at international
conferences, and leading seminars to disseminate research findings.
It is essential that you hold a relevant PhD/DPhil with post-qualification
research experience in biological or medical sciences. You will have
experience of antibody/B cell immunology, clinical research immunology,
experimental medicine, and/or vaccine research. You will also have the ability
to independently plan and manage research projects as well as the ability to
manage and ensure quality assurance of clinical trial data and human research
samples. Experience of isolation and characterisation of novel monoclonal
antibodies, molecular biology, virology, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and/or
the use of animal models is highly desirable, as is experience of managing and
analysing large datasets.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required
to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application.
Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection
criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.
This position is initially offered full time on a fixed term contract for 2
years in the first instance and is funded by the Wellcome and Medical Research
Council.
Only applications received before 12 midday on Friday 17 May 2024 will be
considered. Please quote **172286** on all correspondence.
