**About the role**
We are seeking to appoint a Research Grants Manager to provide an outstanding
professional service to manage the cradle-to-grave process of a portfolio of
research grants for the Department of Paediatrics. This position offers an
excellent opportunity to work alongside researchers at the leading edge of
science at Oxford.
You will report to the Senior Grant Manager but you will manage an assigned
portfolio of Paediatrics research projects, ensuring that the needs of the
academics and professional services, and the requirements of research funders,
are met. You will benefit from being in an environment of specialists,
supporting your own growth and development, with an opportunity to effect
changes to processes which will ensure delivery of consistent, high quality,
professional project support in research grant management.
You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences
Division. The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health
research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug
development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging,
neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology.
**About the department**
The Department of Paediatrics holds the Athena Swan Gold award (a national
gender equality charter) acknowledging the innovative policies and practices
developed across the department.
We encourage staff to develop their skills by offering all staff ten paid days
of professional development each year and have a policy where staff can apply
to receive funding for further training courses to support their professional
development. For staff on work visas, we also offer financial assistance

Weighting of £1,500 a year (pro rata) for all staff on grades 1–10 of the main
salary and grading structure which will be implemented in the September 2024

**About you**
It is essential that you are educated to degree level or equivalent together
with related experience ideally in the higher education sector or research
environment. You will have a working knowledge of the major funding bodies,
and of current issues affecting the research funding sector. You will have
demonstrable skills in effective people management and the ability to support,
develop and motivate staff. Additionally, you will have excellent numeracy
skills, a high level of accuracy, and attention to detail. Prior experience of
Oracle Financials software or other financial software is desirable.
