Applications are invited for a Research Technician in the Mass Spectrometry
Research Facility (MS-SRF), Department of Chemistry. This role involves
carrying out maintenance, calibration and operation of a wide range of mass
spectrometers and associated chromatography systems, including LC-MS and GC-
MS. As a member of the analytical team, the Research Technician will play a
vital role in supporting the department’s mass spectrometry provision, the
running of analytical services and contribute specialist knowledge and skills

The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant
subject area, including experience of analytical chemistry. They will have
working knowledge of health and safety regulations and be able to work
independently in a lab environment. The candidate will have excellent
communications skills and confidently use IT software such as Microsoft
Office. They will ideally have previous experience working in a mass
spectrometry or similar analytical lab involving instrument calibration,
maintenance and sample analysis. The post is ideally suited to a recent
Chemistry graduate.
This is a full-time position based in the Chemistry Research Laboratory,
Mansfield Road, Oxford. It is a fixed-term contract for 2 years in the first
instance but with the potential for extension.
