<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><h4>UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD</h4><br> <div><strong>DIVISION OF CARDIOVASCULAR MEDICINE</strong></div><br> <div><strong>RADCLIFFE DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE</strong></div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div><strong>Laboratory Technician /Post-doctoral research assistant</strong></div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Researcher Grade 7RS.1 &#8211; 7RS.5: &#163;38,674 &#8211; &#163; 43,171 per annum</div><br> <div>This post is also available as an underfill at Researcher Grade 6 (&#163;34,982 &#8211; &#163;40,855 per annum) with duties adjusted commensurate to the grade.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>We are seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician /Post-doctoral research assistant to ensure the smooth running of a translational programme of work in the division of Cardiovascular Medicine in Oxford, that aims to characterize the clinical phenotype of patients with and without coronary artery disease (CAD) and that relies on the Oxford Heart Vessels and Fat (ox-HVF) Programme. The post-holder will join the The Oxford Translational Cardiovascular Research Group and take part in the research activities working collaboratively to help to realise this ambitious research project that is funded by a pharmaceutical company.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>RESPONSIBILITIES</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Prepare buffers and reagents</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Perform routine molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction, PCR and qRT-PCR</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Perform protein techniques such as ELISA assays, and immunoblotting</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Perform cell biology techniques including mammalian cell culture</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; To manage day-to-day research duties, including taking responsibility for planning tasks and experiments and ensuring these are executed promptly and to deadlines</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Maintain accurate records of lab-based experimental work</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the laboratory, e.g. by ensuring equipment is functioning and monitoring and ordering stock as necessary</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Maintain equipment, including washing, sterilisation and disposal, perform quality checks and contribute to the general cleanliness and upkeep of the laboratory space</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Assist with inductions and training of colleagues or students</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Keep up to date with and advise on matters relating to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Health and Safety, COSHH sheets and other regulations relevant to the post.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>ESSENTIAL/DESIRABLE CRITERIA</div><br> <div>Essential selection criteria</div><br> <div>&#8226; PhD/MSc in a relevant biological science</div><br> <div>&#8226; Experience in following standard operating protocols and writing up experimental results</div><br> <div>&#8226; Experience in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint programs</div><br> <div>&#8226; Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment</div><br> <div>&#8226; Experience in techniques in molecular, protein and cell biology including ELISA</div><br> <div>Desirable</div><br> <div>&#8226; Ability to troubleshoot problems with experiments</div><br> <div>&#8226; Strong attention to detail, with the ability to organise samples and record results in a clear and organised fashion</div><br> <div>&#8226; Ability to organise own work-load and take initiative as appropriate</div><br> <div>&#8226; Proven evidence of organisational, communication, professional and interpersonal skills</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>This is a full-time appointment on a fixed term contract for 1 years funded by Astrazeneca and you will be based at the West Wing, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Applications for this vacancy are to be made online; you will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement which explains how you meet the selection criteria for the post.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Only applications received before 12.00 midday on <strong>18th November 2024</strong> can be considered.
