**Programme Manager – Modernising Medical Microbiology (MMM) Unit**







We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced programme manager to join our
multi-disciplinary team at the Modernising Medical Microbiology (MMM) Unit
(https://www.expmedndm.ox.ac.uk/modernising-medical-microbiology). MMM
comprises ~40 researchers situated in Oxford, predominantly at the John
Radcliffe Hospital, aiming to transform how we analyse and treat infections,
to improve patient care.





The Programme Manager will be highly visible and respected, setting both large
strategic objectives and managing practical issues across the MMM Unit in
collaboration with senior academic and administrative colleagues. In
particular, the Programme Manager will have oversight across large programmes
run by the Unit, as well as responsibility for one or more specific individual
projects. The successful candidate will join a team consisting of another
Programme Manager (who has responsibility for the HPRU, and takes a lead on
academic training and development), the group’s Lab Manager, and a Project
Coordinator, who in particular helps with coordination of PPIEP. Together,
this team ensures the smooth running of MMM projects, including the scientific
and financial management of the Unit’s activities.





The post is crucial to the success of this Unit and requires a person with
strong organisational, financial and leadership skills. This is an opportunity
to build a new and innovative approach to managing national infectious
diseases research and surveillance.

The post is full time and fixed term to 31st March 2028.
