<div> <p></p><p>The Ashmolean Museum has a growing reputation for the vast variety of evening events that it hosts and we now have an exciting opportunity available for you to join our established Evening Events Team.<br> <br>Your role will be to help us ensure our evening guests enjoy an experience that exceeds their expectations, as well as play a part in helping to protect our priceless collections and our stunning museum.<br> <br>Ideally, you will have working experience from a busy catering, retail or customer experience background, or similar. Also, you&#146;ll have some knowledge of basic security procedures and health and safety requirements in a sensitive environment.</p><br> <p>You&#146;ll need to possess first class communication skills and enjoy using them! Nothing will be too much trouble for you in helping meet our guests&#146; requests in a professional and polite manner. You&#146;ll also have a confident and pro-active approach to dealing with arising problems and issues as well as demonstrate a positive attitude with a desire to achieve results as a team.</p><br> <p>When scheduled, you will be available to work evening shifts on weekdays, weekends, bank holidays as well as being available to work at short notice. Shifts typically take place between the hours of 4.00pm and 12.30am, depending on the type of event. There is an expectation that you will be able to commit to a minimum of four events each month and preferably more if possible.</p><br> <p>This role involves assisting the Event Operations management team with delivering all of our exclusive events to the highest of standards from start to finish. You will be expected to part-take in the set-up and break-down of events meaning light-lifting will be required. Throughout the event you will also be required to invigilate the galleries in which events take place, being present to help with guests&#146; enquiries, provide directions and generally ensure the safe-keeping of the Museum&#146;s artefacts. All of the above are achieved through effective teamwork.</p><br> <p>Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. <div> <p></p><p>The Exhibitions Manager and the Senior Exhibitions Coordinator plan and manage all aspects of the exhibitions and temporary displays at the Ashmolean Museum. This involves close liaison with many colleagues: registrars, design, conservation, visitor experience, facilities, publications, public engagement, development and the curatorial departments.</p><br> <p>The Ashmolean is one of the oldest museums in the world and is part of the Gardens, Libraries and Museums division of Oxford University. Its collections encompass several thousand years, and are divided into five curatorial departments: Heberden Coin Room, Antiquities, Eastern Art, Western Art and Cast Gallery. The Ashmolean&#146;s temporary exhibitions provide an opportunity to shine a light on particular aspects of the collections as well as to promote their understanding by new, alternative interpretation. The exhibitions aim to welcome all members of society into the museum regardless of their background or education and are intended to attract new audiences. The exhibitions also provide continued interest for our regular visitors and increase the museum&#146;s media profile.</p><br> <p>We hold between two and three large scale loan ticketed exhibitions per year on the dedicated Temporary Exhibition Galleries on the third floor, as well as smaller free displays and exhibitions in other areas of the museum</p><br> <p>We now seek an Exhibitions Assistant to provide support to the Exhibitions Manager and Senior Exhibitions Coordinator, by providing efficient administration for the exhibitions office, assisting in preparing for temporary exhibitions, and to organise smaller projects and displays.</p><br> <p>You will be required to upload a CV and your supporting statement as part of your online application.
