<div> <p></p><p>The Ashmolean is the University of Oxford&#146;s museum of art and archaeology, founded in 1683. Our world-famous collections range from Egyptian mummies to contemporary art, telling human stories across cultures and across time. The Ashmolean has seen the success of several recent exhibitions, such as Andy Warhol: Works from the Hall Collection and the award-winning Raphael: The Drawings. The commercial department&#146;s growing retail team are now looking for variable hours, permanent Retail Sales Assistants to help support the department&#146;s on-going retail objectives.</p><br> <p>Inspired by our collections, the Ashmolean Museum Shop offers a range of distinctive and cultural gifts, hand-picked by a dedicated team of buying and visual merchandising experts. The Museum boasts two shops, each with its own unique setting and product range.</p><br> <p>The Retail Sales Assistant will work as part of a small dedicated retail team as well as working alongside colleagues involved in buying and merchandising and ticketing. As part of the role, a typical day will involve readying and maintaining the shop floors, providing a warm welcome, using product knowledge to inspire our customers and maximise sale opportunities, promoting our membership scheme and upholding our high visual merchandising standards.</p><br> <p>The role requires the candidate to be sales orientated with an ability to build a rapport with our customers in order to deliver excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will be team focussed and have experience with cash handling.</p><br> <p>Finally, although the contract is variable hours, shifts will be allocated fairly by the Retail Manager. During busy periods we will expect Retail Assistants to be available to support the team in working a varied amount of shifts over the 7 day period.</p><br> <p>The ideal candidate will: have previous retail experience - working in a heritage or luxury retail environment would be beneficial; possess excellent communication and IT skills; have a passion to deliver an exceptional customer experience in a busy fast pace environment; be passionate about retail and be interested in achieving personal sales targets and supporting others in achieving theirs; you will be expected to be of smart appearance and have the ability to work on your own initiative within a small team; you will be able to carry out the physical demands of the role (with or without adaptations), as you may be required to move stock and set up exhibition shops.</p><br> <p>Applications for this vacancy are to be made online.</p><br> <p>You will be required to answer the following two questions to form your supporting document:</p><br> <ol><br> <li>Why your skills, experience and knowledge demonstrate you are the right candidate for this role?</li><br> <li>Which three key attributes will you bring to the role and how do they relate to selling, service or working as part of a team?</li><br> </ol><br> <p>The responses to the two questions should be no more than 200 words for each answer and titled &#145;supporting document&#146;, with your name.</p><br> <p>Please do not upload certificates or additional supporting information as they will not be considered in the shortlisting for this position.</p><br> <p>Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Friday 19 October 2018 can be considered.
